ONE OF OUR VOLUNTEER STORIES
“I really enjoyed my experience at House of Hope in February. I have seen poverty before when I spent time in India, but there is a difference in seeing poverty and living in poverty!! Its one thing to see it and go back to your hotel room with ensuite and hot showers and fine dining and then live in it with no electricity, no hot water and a bowl of maize to eat. That’s when you realise the difference. The children were so wonderful to still always have a big smile for everyone each day. They start their day so early and work so hard, they love school and love learning, I think Australian children could learn so much from them. I certainly did. I feel privileged to have been there and hope the children continue to benefit from Wendy’s dedication to them.”
